Professional Bio
Perry joined Occucare International in 2008, bringing over four decades of diverse experience spanning military service, public safety, and the private sector. A decorated U.S. Navy veteran (IDC/Navy DOC - Fleet Marine Force) with service under Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle, Perry previously held roles such as Emergency Services Director and with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and Emergency Preparedness. His background includes studies in Healthcare Management and Emergency Medicine. Currently, Perry serves as Program Director for licensure and clinical proficiency, leveraging his extensive teaching credentials in medical, public safety, and regulatory fields.
Work Experience
For the past 10 years, Perry has served as Director of Medical Operations and Injury Management for one of the world’s largest defense contractors, supporting both U.S. and overseas operations. In this role, he leads all aspects of medical operations with a focus on Injury Management, Fitness for Duty, Return to Work Programs, and Workers’ Compensation claims management. He works directly with departments such as Human Resources, Risk Management, General Counsel, and Work Comp TPA’s. His primary focus areas include regulatory affairs, injury/incident investigations, and case reviews.
Perry has been instrumental in implementing programs that have led to a greater than 90% reduction in recordable and lost work time events, resulting in reduced EMR and significant workers’ compensation savings. Under his guidance, the client achieved its first 3 million man-hours of no lost work time events, earning recognition from the Kentucky Governor’s Labor Cabinet. Recognized as a subject matter expert, Perry is frequently invited to speak at conferences on injury and risk management and cost mitigation strategies.
Previously, he served as Director of Medical Operations on the MOX project under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Savannah River site facility, managing daily operations and patient care. He also served as OCONUS Operations Director for the deployment of medical personnel to Afghanistan in support of defense contractors. Perry has extensive knowledge in emergency, occupational, and preventive medicine, medical surveillance programs, and regulatory affairs, and he maintains all relevant national registries and multistate licensure.
